Surviving Abuse: Self-Care Warfare

When you are living in a demonic battle like abuse, taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s spiritual warfare.

When you are depleted and all your energy goes to survival, the hardest thing to do sometimes is eat healthy, exercise, and take moments to rest in the peace of God.

No one may see it, but you are in a battle for your life. The less you take care of yourself, the more the devil is given reign to sabotage and destroy and the more exhausted and ill you will become.

These may be small things to others, but for you, they are an act of courage. You are valuable and precious to God. Your body is a temple of the Lord.

Choose to fight the battle by taking care of yourself. God’s daughters don’t cower. They rise. They are bold as a lion.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. – Ephesians 6:10-13

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. – 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
