The For our Daughters film exposes more abuse apathy and abuse of authority within the American church system as more of God’s daughters cry out for repentance and justice. Although I don’t agree with everything presented, the courage of its creators and participants is undeniable and commendable.
Way too many men for way too many decades in churches have been pitied and led to “restoration” when they should be in handcuffs, while their victims are cast out, silenced, and even slandered. Rebellious men are given support, prayer, counseling, and comradery for their crimes while their victims are isolated, condemned and ridiculed for speaking out like God commands in His Word.
It’s really hard to constantly hear about God’s justice when there’s so much apathy around real issues like abuse and assault. There aren’t many, if any, sermons regarding these topics because leaders either refuse to learn about these issues or they are afraid to call out their mentors and friends. The truth is, it doesn’t matter how much churches pine after “masculinity.” It’s not tough or Godly to avoid and minimize how God’s daughters are being mistreated.
Feminism is often the focus of blame, but feminism only highlights and exposes abuse within the church system. It is an outpouring and reaction to the generations of time these wolves have been disguising their abuse of power as Christianity. God’s judgment and discipline is why we see so many women taking the lead in so many areas. Even reversing feminism in itself would not solve this abuse apathy and misuse of power within the church.
It should be Christian men taking the lead and exposing such evils perpetrated by Christ-professing men, but it’s not. They’d rather, once again, turn the tables and talk about the evil things women are doing. They’d rather pretend this is only going on in other places and false churches with false teachings rather than right under their own noses in their own congregations.
Although I don’t agree with everything presented, the underlying message is the same thing women have been crying out for a long time. Even with disagreements, one thing is certain. Women are not being treated appropriately, like Christ commanded. Without this factor, churches will continue to suffer and stray away from the solid foundation of the Savior.
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
Ephesians 5:11-12
Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain
is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.
Proverbs 25:26
How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalm 82:2-4
