The Devil’s Snap Theology

“They just snapped” is a phrase we hear often through the prince of the power of the airwaves in society. From media to professors to judges to medical professionals to the mouths of pulpits, it’s described as an unfathomable and unexplainable anomaly.

However, only a glimpse into the tactics of the underworld unveils these claims as a far cry from the truth. Evil can occur unexpectedly and without warning, but relational violence most often stems from a long line of hidden calculated abuse. The first physical assault is often the fatal one.

Satan’s army of dark angels are not only provoking married sheep to fight with one another, they are also manipulating vulnerable sheep to marry them. This means many of God’s disciples are living with the devil masquerading as an angel of light in their own home, and even unknowingly having children with them.

Demons don’t begin with random acts of physical violence. They mask their evil intentions for years under the guise of biblical righteousness, grooming their prey with love bombing and kindness. Even the fruits of the Spirit seem evident as subtle displays of provoked fleshly darkness are explained away as normal flaws of fallen human nature.

By the time evil exposes itself, the prey is caged in under the oppression of isolation, control, a ruined reputation, and pressure to protect children from the threat of family court custody to an abusive parent and the abandonment through losing their mother.

A common teaching among church leaders is that only physical abuse is grounds for separation. This false teaching has spread like wildfire from seminaries to assemblies to generations of listening ears. When a leader teaches this, what it really means is that they either do not know satan’s character and tactics or they are willingly following him. Whether a wolf or an ignorant disciple, both of these strongly suggest that they are unqualified to lead a flock of God’s sheep

because physical violence is not the beginning of domestic abuse. It’s the final blow – a grave end to years and often decades of coercive control. Fighting physical abuse is like fighting abortion and hoping for survivors, knowing that most will lose their lives. The rescue has to happen before the final act of violence.

Satan smiles every time a believer ignores abuse and claims that physical violence is the only biblical way to separate. He laughs every time a believer following the light is manipulated via weaponized scripture to reconcile with the darkness. He wins a battle every time compromise overrides justice and marriage is idolized over repentance.

He celebrates every time a believer fights abortion to rescue a child, but ignores those same women and children slowly dying within the confines of abuse.

Jesus eternally defeated the kingdom of darkness on the cross, but satan has been winning the temporary war on abuse through the false teachings and silence of God’s people. The enemy of God is stealing, killing, and destroying God’s sheep. He can only be resisted and overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit proclaiming the truth.

Human beings can be preyed on, tempted, and provoked. Nonbelievers can be possessed, but one thing remains certain. The devil didn’t snap. He’s been planning and dreaming of our destruction and demise since his fall from heaven into the center of God’s creation.

It’s time for God’s people to stop fighting against the separation from evil that Jesus justified on the cross and start fighting for deliverance from the darkness and the freedom of souls.

The generalized stages of satan’s agenda via relational abuse:

1. Pre-relationship stalking or abuse: The perpetrator often crosses subtle boundaries to create a trauma bond and over-involves themselves in the victim’s life. If not the first relationship, they often have a history of abusive behavior in previous relationships, which they often hide or explain away as having “crazy” ex partners.
2. Quickly developing romance: The relationship moves quickly, often creating a false sense of security and intimacy.
3. Coercive control: This stage involves isolating the victim from friends and family, controlling their finances, and dictating their behavior.
4. Trigger event: The perpetrator experiences a setback that threatens his control, such as a job loss or the victim attempting to leave.
5. Escalation: The control intensifies, often starting with threats.
6. Change in thinking: The perpetrator decides he will kill the victim rather than lose control.
7. Planning: The abuser may acquire a weapon or find a vulnerable moment to carry out the murder.
8. Homicide: The partner is killed.
