The Shepherd’s Sowing

When we tried to conform, you hindered us.
When we asked questions, you belittled us.
When we pursued God’s call, you rejected us.
When we asked for help, you ignored us.
When we went through spiritual storms,
you abandoned us.
When we tried to grow, you squashed us.
When we tried to heal, you punished us.
When we scattered, you left us waning
for nourishment.

You treated us like we’re subhuman.
You left us out of opportunities to equip us.
You pushed us off paths toward our purpose.
You labeled our desperation ‘holiness.’
You watched our Spirits grieve and did nothing.
You joined with men who do the same.

Now that the field is bare and the anointing
is scarce, you want to go gathering.
Now you want to make room for the forgotten.
Now you want to show up to feed the wild.
Now you want to admonish and correct the ones
freed from your den, and you wonder why no
famished prey is attracted to your fragrance.
You wonder why no feminine souls listen to you

when it was you who molded them for starvation.
It was you who pushed them into famine
and taught them how to withstand the hunger.
