It is a common teaching that when a marriage is preserved, it’s obedient to God and reaps His blessings. This belief, however, is not from scripture. Obedience to God may set a chosen one up for deep-rooted sanctification, but it won’t lead to destruction.
God’s Word says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
The Messiah came with a sword that separates light and dark, good and evil, and justice and injustice. Obedience to God does not always mean enduring unrepentant forces of evil; sometimes, it means protection in the form of deliverance that avoids destruction.
When a woman is called to leave an abuser and she stays, her family is not blessed. It is generationally destroyed.
Her kids do not learn through words, but through example. They learn that God is unjust, marriage is more important than life, and abuse is love. They watch prayers go unanswered and their mother wither away into a traumatized paralysis of self-abandonment.
They enter the world with a broken nervous system meant to protect them from evil, but it leads them into the false sense of safety and comfort of evil instead. Desperate survival is all they know. Their attempts to escape the chaos only leads them right back to where they started internally, existing as children still yearning to be loved.
They live a life of struggle trying to heal from what others created and paying the consequences for things they never did. They realize they were never protected; their safety was traded for destruction in the name of grace.
Betrayal and cowardice doesn’t teach children about faith. They turn away from those places and people who condemned their mother into slavery, and it makes sense because if the one they serve gives way to the wicked and gives cruelty to the innocent, who would want to serve a God like that?
Living a lie may look good on the outside for a time, but it is nothing more than a volcano brewing, waiting to pour out its burn victims into an unsuspecting society.
The image may look good for a time, but when the wicked conceals violence, it is the next generation who eventually pays the price.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John 10:10
The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. – Psalm 11:5
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. – Proverbs 10:6
Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. – Psalm 82:4
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. – Psalm 103:6
The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. – Psalm 37:39-40
