The Woe of Covert Trust

If you want to find the covert demon, look for the one who is trusted the most.

Covert demons are often trusted middlemen where they are believed by default. It’s where they do the most damage. They work their way into positions where they can subtly destroy without being questioned, where people will believe them without investigating.

They usually lack qualifications for the position (because they’re dark spirits), but are really good at getting people to overlook these red flags because they feel sorry for them. Although they are consumed with pride internally, these demons are really good at appearing gentle and lowly.

They are so trusted that when people speak up about their character, it’s blown off. People who experience their mask can’t imagine them doing such an evil thing plus they’ve already been at work subtly destroying their prey’s character and reputation, and turning them into a problem.

It’s easy for them to hide their damage because it’s spiritual damage. They’re interested in hindering the Kingdom of God, so the damage isn’t easily assessed via worldly standards.

These demons are very dangerous because they’re calculated and have longevity. They create problems that don’t exist under the radar until people start to notice the pattern or entire ministries are dismantled.

The way to battle these evil spirits is to first hold them to the same qualifications as others, question them, ask for specific examples to their claims, get the other side of their perspective, and get to know people they talk about. Don’t just take their word and instead, assess the character of those they speak about for yourself.

A covert demon who feeds off of blind trust will be provoked by any potential of exposure, so signs of discomfort, defensiveness, or blame-shifting will reveal their lack of humility and their true spirit.

Be careful. They work subtly and seem harmless, but these are not subtle creatures. Once crossed with threat of exposure or consequence for their behavior, they are vengeful and ruthless and will do anything to protect their image.

They are not to be underestimated. They get pleasure out of playing demonic games with God’s children and they’re not playing to win. They know their weapons were never meant to prosper.

These spirits are filled with hollow darkness, so when their mask is gone and their betrayals are known, they’ll be at their final move before the sword comes hunting. It will be their final chance to unleash a fiery dart at God’s creation, and they’ll have nothing more to lose.

So that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs. – 2 Corinthians 2:11

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. – 2 Corinthians 11:14-15

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John 10:10

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. – Ephesians 5:11-17
