When Pride Unites: Sports Fans Outreach International (SFOA)

Sports Fan Outreach International (SFOI) claims to be an evangelistic ministry, but they directly hinder women from the Great Commission, which is the calling of every saint of Christ. This is unbiblical and based solely on the pride of men who want to suppress and control women. It has no business claiming the name of the Savior while they do it.

Any person who affiliates with them is taking part in the suppression of their sisters in Christ, especially those called to street evangelism.

It’s really discouraging that women constantly have to put up with this behavior because no men will fight these battles against unbiblical efforts that not only betray women, but also the gospel.

These men go out claiming to give a gospel of hope and freedom while condemning their own sisters in Christ. It is unbiblical and hypocritical. They also team up with other ministries that treat women the same way. This is divisive to the unity in the body that scripture guides saints to earnestly pursue.

Women in evangelism is not an unessential side debate. It is an essential command of the Lord and when it is put under a yoke of bondage, the Spirit of the Lord is grieved.

The Word of Truth states that “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) It’s one thing to speak the gospel. It’s another to actually live it. A person bound for eternal life in heaven won’t carry themselves with pride.

An evangelist who loves Christ’s freedom won’t put oppressive boundaries on His bride or the Great Commission into captivity.

I’m deeply concerned for the soul of anyone who is comfortable hindering over half of the Kingdom for their own pride. It shows who and what they really love and it’s not sisters in Christ or the lost, and it’s definitely not the gospel they claim saved their soul.

God calls His disciples to spiritual unity, but this unity cannot coexist with those who choose to separate themselves from God’s Word. There is no male or female in evangelism, but just one Holy Spirit working through faith to reach the lost with the gospel of truth, hope, love, and freedom.

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, ‘The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger… The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.’ – Matthew 23:1-4,11-13

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. – Ephesians 4:1-6

My son, fear the Lord and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise, for disaster will arise suddenly from them, and who knows the ruin that will come from them both? – Proverbs 24:21-22

And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’ – Mark 16:15
