A woman who physically beat her son with a belt in a fit of rage brought mixed reactions from the nation and the Christian community. It provoked questions about the morality and legality of harsh discipline, but to those who lived within the bounds of its trauma for themselves, it resurfaced festering wounds.
This type of abuse disguised as discipline is not a secret; it’s a widespread teaching that has been proudly preached from pulpits for generations.
This exposure was just one more example of the grace and love “Christian” parenting that many church leaders and influencers have marketed to the masses. Those who were raised with it tend to believe it’s normal, but normalizing behavior doesn’t make it right. The twisted teachings have done nothing but destroy hearts, minds, and families and poison this nation.
This abuser is already out on bond and already has cowardly “Christians” running to her defense, showering her with attention, and claiming she just needs grace, while her victims are completely minimized and ignored.
Her church friends will applaud her because churches are full of devils who reject God and hate the next generation. They won’t help her kids because they’re more interested in crushing spirits than in following the Holy Spirit.
I don’t want to hear “the rod” bla, bla, bla. If you think this is discipline, your heart has been hardened. You don’t know God and can’t interpret His scripture either. He doesn’t tell us to act like this. This is not training up a child. This ongoing treatment is destroying a human being.
If you abuse your kids and call it love in the name of Christ, God says a millstone drowning is better than what’s coming, and you deserve everything coming to you.
God hates abuse, especially the abuse of children.
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. – Matthew 18:6
Do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. – Ephesians 6:4
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. – James 1:19-20
A man’s spirit will endure sickness,
but a crushed spirit who can bear?
A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
– Proverbs 17:22, 18:14
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do… Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. – Galatians 5:16-24
