The Christian’s One Thing

God’s Word says that the fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. It also says that evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely. (Proverbs 28:5)

God’s love comes with duality, and through the transformation of the Holy Spirit, God’s people desire His ways. After salvation, they begin to love what He loves and hate what He hates.

Loving life, for example, requires fighting against the unjust taking of a life. Giving a pass to those who destroy something or someone means you don’t really value that something or someone in the first place.

In many Christ-professing areas of influence, for those claiming to love human life created in God’s image, a ‘Christlike’ response for destroying life is fighting for jail time to bring consequences and justice because of God. However, for those claiming to love marriage, a ‘Christlike’ response for destroying it suddenly becomes distorting the truth to fight for an image with no consequences or justice, while also claiming the same God.

Advocating for legal consequences for abortion and against divorce for abuse is hypocrisy. Both are crimes against humanity. Fighting for one and not the other is not God’s love. It’s idolatry. It’s following the doctrine of demons, not God’s Word.

Alleviating consequences may bring comfort as it masquerades as “grace,” but it is not loving. It is the counterfeit mercy of the darkness. It misrepresents the Creator. It is cruelty that rejects deliverance, magnifies oppression, and brings injustice to the innocent, straying them away from God while also being very unloving to the perpetrator’s soul as God’s standard of love is twisted into one that accepts evil as good.

Many are led to the Lord via His overflowing deliverance and healing while many are led to accountability and repentance via punishment. Fighting against consequences rejects both.

God’s desire is not works or living out an image. His desire is repentance, the salvation of souls.

Many lives have been lost and many children have been led astray from the truth because of this false teaching masquerading as God’s love.

Battling divorce as a Christian may be popular, but it is not fighting the good fight. It’s entering the Savior’s battalion as a cleansed soldier with blood on your hands.

Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel. – Proverbs 12:10

Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. – Psalm 82:4

The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. – Deuteronomy 32:4

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. – Colossians 2:8

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. – Ephesians 5:11-12
