The Woe of Positive Thinking

A common tactic of abortion propaganda is to focus on all the “good healthcare” abortion mills provide women, so that abortion could be minimized, more widely accepted, and go on under the radar. When people would bring up the evil of abortion, the response would turn to this “focus on the positive” narrative to distract from and avoid the actual problem.

This is not a tactic used solely by pro-abortion advocates; it’s a common scheme from the web of darkness. It often weaves its way into the church. When people speak out about church sin and you list all the good things churches are doing, when you try to blameshift accountability onto the victims, or when you disguise and minimize church sin under different labels, you’re playing into the devil’s scheme. You sound like Planned Parenthood.

If we’re going to only talk about the good the church is doing, then let’s be consistent and only talk about the advancements the N@zi regime made to society. Let’s talk about the kids in healthy homes, not the ones being abused or in foster care. Let’s talk about people having babies and just ignore the evil of abortion. Do you see that the church doesn’t do this with anything else?

This is easy until it comes to our favorite assembly or pastor being called out, then it really tests our faith and dedication to Christ over people and the world. It tests our willingness to stand for truth in the face of losing. It tests our love for God and neighbors. It provokes protective mode when image and false teachings matter more than truth and exposing evil.

When this happens, it means we love that person more than we fear God and hate sin more than we love God’s bride. It means the devil is at play and he is winning inside the church claiming to follow Christ.

God exposes the darkness in society and our souls. He does not count the good and evil works and take which sum is higher. Good works never erase evil. This deception is actually a common tactic of satan. Many satan worshippers do a lot of public charity and good works to mask the evil they’re involved in underneath the surface, so the evil can spread undetected.

If you refuse to fight abortion, the church will say you don’t love human beings. You hate human beings in the womb. In the same way, if you refuse to fight evil in church and continue avoiding and protecting evil, then you don’t really love the church. You hate it.

The next time someone tries to talk about their experience or expose something and you begin to counteract what they’re suggesting by listing all of your good experiences with that person or church or all the causes they stand for in the public arena, or you begin to put labels on the exposer such as “crazy,” “unforgiving,” “unsaved,” “bitter,” or someone trying to “cause division” or “avoid accountability” or “persecute the church,” my friend, you are not listening. You are not being part of the solution.

You’re being part of the problem. Their experience doesn’t discount yours, and yours doesn’t discount theirs. The devil doesn’t attack everyone. He’s actually covert among believers. He’s kind to many and only targets those who intimidate or threaten his schemes. It’s worth considering that maybe people are acting differently than you because their reality is different than yours and they’re being treated differently than you.

The devil is given reign every time we allow good works to mask the things God hates in order to silence victims and justify or ignore evil.

God loves His bride so much He died for them.
Let’s not avoid the conviction and refining that grows the unity that He loves. Let’s not be problem avoiders or problem creators. Let’s be problem solvers who strive for sanctification and truth. Let’s be people who love God’s bride. Let’s deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Christ.
