When abortion is criminalized, the maternal death rate will likely go down and we’ll see that the percent of maternal deaths due to abortion was actually higher than due to births.
The abortion pill, RU-486, was implemented in late 2000 and maternal deaths spiked from 8.0 in 1990 to 17.6 in 2014. There was a pregnancy checkbox added for cause of death in 2003, which associated with a stable increase from 8.0 in 1990 to 12.1 in 2003 (suggesting previous maternal deaths were underreported), but with increased abortion pill marketing and usage, maternal deaths spiked significantly. The rate is now over 23 (per 100,000 live births).
The current data for maternal death from the World Health Organization includes both types calculated together to determine maternal deaths. The abortion industry capitalized on this data to make birth seem more fatal, so that they could sell the fear of maternal death during birth and lead more women to abortion. It was all a deception.
Abortions have not become more safe as the industry suggests; they’ve only become more effective at hiding the damage. Abortions have harmed many young women. The abortion pill is particularly unsafe for women, considering its administration is at home away from medical intervention.
(This doesn’t even include the many women who died slowly through self-sabotage in the aftermath of abortion or those who ended their lives.)
