Unity

Here’s one thing not worth a try:
if you choose to judge your own side
and find secret satisfaction in the petty fight,
keep in mind

that our enemy is one hundred percent unified
and completely willing to prioritize every battle cry
with arms linked and every lane and chain organized.
Lock and key fitted. Security tight. Ready to fight.
Every serpent has already been tallied and called to strike
right on an exact moment in time,
as soon as we are not at our most faithful pristine prime.
Because his prize is bigger than you and I,
he is ready to destroy life at any price.
This is true,
but he won’t have to.

Instead, our enemy sits in a pit full of victory
watching us go down in history
drawing distracting words and swords
in a war where nobody’s keeping score,
as we cleverly and vengefully give into his game
of stirring the pot of nonessential blame.
We subtly dismiss the cross of life
for political divisions and worldly fights.
With energy that could be used to climb, to unify and rise,
we waste our soul light for a tiny smidgen of religious pride.

The devil smiles every time
we draw up man-made wrongs and rights
with our freewill spite
and use them against our own sisters and brothers,
like a Kingdom reality show where we wear God’s armor
and slay each other.
