The victory was proclaimed
through an abandoned baby,
through a leader with speech issues,
through a man building a boat in a desert,
through a diseased outcast,
through a man sold by his own brothers,
through a child king,
through an adopted orphan,
through a poor unwed pregnant virgin,
through a man surviving on locusts in the wilderness,
through a divorced Samaritan woman,
through a freed prostitute,
through a despised tax collector,
through an enlightened murderer,
through a doubting disciple,
through the enriched fishermen, through the walking paralyzed, through the seeing blind, and through the living dead.
Word of His miracles resounded through the nations, but the victory yet to come was to be so much greater than these – a victory so unfathomable, that even to number the stars wouldn’t come close to measuring its glory.
Yet, there it was, now written into history and remembered as a man beaten in beautiful agony, enduring the painful lashes of our rebellion, the slicing swordthrusts of our blasphemy, and the dying breaths of our sin, a perfect walk toward death, all of it taken on Himself to resurrect us — His repentant enemies — to eternal life.
And to think it all began as an innocent babe. In the womb, He knew where He came from, who He was, what He came to do, and who He came for.
He came to pay the price
for the worst of the worst,
for the least of these,
for you and me.
What began as an innocent babe in the womb became a salvation of souls that trancends the span of time.
This Christmas, no matter the situation or trial at hand, remember that He didn’t come for the strong. He came for the weak. He didn’t come for the faultless. He came for the faithful.
He knew you before He formed you. He already thought of you, prayed for you, and died for you
and He holds you still.
May we remember whose we are and not allow our humanity to keep us from proclaiming His victory in the coming year.
Blessed be the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. – John 1:9-13
Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ – John 8:12
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness on them has light shone. – Isaiah 9:2
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
