“The greatest legacy isn’t career, wealth or fame. It’s marriage and the gift of children.” – Lila Rose, Live Action
The pro-life movement tends to attract people who want to live a legacy, but the problem with that is it becomes more about motivating people, holding rallies, starting movements, making history, and regulating the abortion industry than ending abortion.
There are people in the movement who are running ministries and earning paychecks while fighting bills that would end abortion because they want to protect women from just consequences, keep their political candidate in office, they want to be remembered, or because they want to have it as a ministry throughout their lifetime.
Worldly family is something that should be honored and fought for, but the greatest legacy is not marriage and children. It is dying to yourself and living for Christ.
Suggesting marriage and kids is the greatest legacy sounds like progress, but it actually pushes people away because it misunderstands the target audience and it’s not of God. It’s idolatry. It may be part of the American dream, but it’s not the gospel.
If you believe marriage and children is the only way to represent Christianity, heaven might be disappointing because it’s going to be a family of adopted Holy Spirit believers, not an implosion society.
When Christ judges for the final time, implosion societies will implode, the world will perish, political movements will fade like mist, American legacies will go up in smoke, and the only legacy that will matter is whether or not your name will be written in the book of life.
Choose life.
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. – Colossians 2:8
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. – 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. – John 3:36
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. – 1 John 2:15-17
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ. – Philippians 3:8
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” – Matthew 16:24
