This is motherhood. It doesn’t follow the pro-life propaganda, but what is wrong with the truth? What is wrong with reality? This is motherhood for a lot of people.
Motherhood doesn’t have to be joyful. It doesn’t have to be fulfilling or motivate you to achieve your dreams. Sometimes, it’s just hard. Very hard, but we don’t walk into motherhood because it’s joyful or fulfilling or motivating. We walk into it because it’s courageous. It’s brave. It’s part of growing up. It’s part of healing. It’s part of breaking generational chains.
When we were forced to grow up too soon, becoming pregnant is disappointing and painful, but it’s an opportunity to give your child as a sacrificial act of love or to become the one you needed, but didn’t get to have.
Motherhood is not always glamorous and highlight reel worthy. Sometimes, it’s a life of exhaustion and laying your life down. It’s costly.
When life hits us unexpectedly, choosing to put a child first is hard. It may be the hardest thing you have ever done, but choosing to put a child first is the right thing to do. It is the empowering thing to do.
Joy isn’t dependent on circumstance. It can’t be found in this world. True joy doesn’t come from motherhood, but from getting to know the giver of joy and walking in His truth.
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live. – Deuteronomy 30:19
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John 10:10
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. – 3 John 4
If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. – John 8:31-32
