The Woe of Apathy

It may seem loving and compassionate to not criminalize abortion, but it’s not the love or compassion of God. The love of God warns and leads souls to the gospel. Compassion is serving neighbors by offering grace, mercy, guidance, and support. Compassion leads vulnerable people to the right moral choice and helps them along the way. For those who don’t follow the guidance, consequences lead to the knowledge of sin, which opens the door to repentance.

If you refuse to fight to criminalize abortion, the innocent are being punished for your apathy. When you refuse to fight for consequences, you are actively showing indifference to souls who will be led to the slaughter and to innocent lives who will be lost due to your inaction.

Jesus didn’t just stand aside and allow us to go to the destination we deserve for sin. He actively and intentionally interceded to give His life for an eternity we didn’t earn and for a transformation we didn’t even know we needed.

As those who know the Savior’s miraculous work and as carriers of the cross, how much more as Christians should we be willing to intercede and sacrifice our lives to warn and rescue others?

How dare we claim to know the Creator and light of the world and stand aside while His valuable creations are stumbling into wayward paths and being consumed by deceitful schemes of darkness.

My son, fear the Lord and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise, for disaster will arise suddenly from them, and who knows the ruin that will come from them both? – Proverbs 24:21-22

Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute? They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. But the Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out. – Psalm 94:20-23

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. – Proverbs 24:11

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. – Isaiah 1:16-17

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. – Mark 12:30-31
