She was created to be a sensitive nurturer who is in tune with the world’s symphony of feelings around her. She was made to deconstruct a cacophony of life’s musical notes and quickly rearrange them into an organized stream of songs, often ending up with a much deeper sense than mere logic could provide. She was created on purpose for a purpose, but she doesn’t know any of this. Nobody taught her. Nobody planted her seeds of confidence.
She was created to be loved and cherished and protected. When this doesn’t happen, her sensitive nature begins to breed problems. She tries to push them down, but her issues surface when so many traumatic moments fester and begin to build and weave into a web of confusion and deep pain. She doesn’t even know she’s hurting until she hits a wall of stressful overwhelm. At this point, she’s distracted with the rollercoaster of life. She doesn’t have the time and it seems too late to try to fix anything. Solutions come easy when she’s brought up with the tools to take apart and carefully rebuild her mental and emotional home, but what if she doesn’t even know how she’s been hurt? What if she doesn’t know what tools she even needs?
Women that end up at Planned Parenthood may seem outwardly confident, but for most, it’s a facade. No woman who lets men use and abuse her has self-respect, whether she admits it or not. Seeking pleasure is a quick and easy fix for depressing feelings and often becomes an unspoken life rule for dealing with the pain of self-loathing. Misery doesn’t like to be alone. Her sinful lifestyle of fornication begins with looking for love in all the wrong places, and never finding it within herself. This lifestyle breeds only emotional turmoil and leads to other forms of self-destruction in order to live numb to its consequences. No woman living in a sinful lifestyle of fornication holds herself on a high shelf of value. Rather, she looks to others to define her value and ends up attracting men who meet her low expectations. This is when her trauma bond is formed, where chaos gets confused with complacency.
She likely grew up with trauma where her idea of love got distorted into the comfort of pain and fear. She is easily drawn to the fake love-bombing of a broken abuser and being abused physically, verbally, and emotionally feels quite normal. While she gives her all in order to seek value from others, she ignorantly expects it all to work out, but is instead blind-sighted by emotional or physical abandonment. And so, she shows up to the abortion clinic with little dignity left to hold onto, wondering if God even cares about her and wondering why she was even made in the first place. She wonders, what is the point of this life? Maybe it would be better for her baby to not be born in the first place. Maybe that’s love.
Even if she changes her mind, she’s going right back to her life full of the same issues that got her there in the first place. Her baby will be raised in the same brokenness. If she doesn’t change her mind, she will likely have two or more abortions because she’ll get stuck in the destructive cycle of devaluation and ignoring open wounds.
The solution to this complicated problem is not easy, but it’s simple. The truth is only Jesus can heal. Only Jesus can save. Only Jesus can redefine her value. Only Jesus can break the chains of her past. Only Jesus can transform her heart of stone into a heart of flesh. Only the perfect love of Jesus can cast out the fear that twists and turns through her shattered heart and her convoluted mind.
Only the light of Christ holds the power to change her. Only the Father can draw her to the truth. As bold messengers for Christ, we must show up to stand in the gap between life and death. We must intercede and pierce her comfort zone with the Word of God, the only weapon that can discern the thoughts and intentions of her heart. She’s at a turning point, walking wounded, troubled and stumbling into the slaughter of innocent bloodshed. The unborn child tucked safely in her womb is about to be lost forever. Jesus is the only living hope. The Gospel is the only lamp that can light up the darkness in her path and surround them both with shouts of deliverance.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5
