Why “Aren’t you Glad your Mom had You?” Falls Flat

“Aren’t you glad your mom had you?” is an argument that falls flat. Many women seeking abortion are not glad their moms had them. They’ve survived horrific things. Many are wanting to not be here. It is very important when standing between life and death to have wisdom of who you may be talking with. Misunderstanding the target audience can unintentionally validate their view that those trying to help them haven’t experienced such hardship and don’t relate to what they’re going through, leading to missed opportunities and sometimes, lost lives.

They’re in the midst of a spiritual battle where satan’s darkness is trying to consume them with evil masquerading as good, comfort masquerading as love, and lies masquerading as truth. The evidence throughout their life seems to prove the deceiver right.

They care about their child as much as people cared for them. They need to know that the devil is a liar, they’re life is valuable, and they are also a gift from the Creator to this world.

Evangelism in abortion isn’t really about saving babies. It’s about the Great Commission – planting seeds and watering souls. A heart that is veiled to God’s light and has been destroyed by the thief’s evil is not going to be changed by worldly facts and emotional pleas.

We don’t know God’s will for their life, but we know their hearts need transformation, their minds need truth, and their souls need the gospel of eternal hope.

That’s where the fruit is.
That’s where the freedom is.

He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. – Psalm 107:20

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death. – Proverbs 13:14
